Communal Spaces/Community Places/Common Rooms - An Architektur

The exhibition Communal Spaces/Community Places/Common Rooms is based on issue 10 of the Berlin based political architectural journal An Architektur with the title Gemeinschaftsräume, published in 2003. The issue covered 29 historical and current examples of communal spaces in different contexts ranging from the Paris Commune to the Anti-Globalization Movement, from Soviet Commune Houses to recent squats. Taking these examples as a starting point, the exhibition offers visualization of the concept of community spaces and posits local examples within this context.
