common room was invited by ifau & jesko fezer to act as the architect of record on the goethe-institut wyoming building. under the initiative ‘reinventing goethe’ the renovation of an existing space near the bowery on new york’s lower east side introduces questions of spatial allocation, social identity and the role of cultural institutions in a neighborhood that is responding to the pressures of cultural and economic change. the goethe-institut wyoming building project operates in the role of a temporary institution where the potential for action foregrounds final solutions.
